Just like my 70's Acrolite only better!!

Pros

  • Great crack sound
  • Light weight
  • No seam aluminum shell
  • Very articulate

Cons

  • 8 lugs

Best Uses

  • Live shows
  • Rehearsal
  • Studio work

This Tama drum totally reminds me of my first Ludwig acrolite snare only cooler looking.
With 2 steel mighty hoops you get better crack and you don't lose the detail of ghost notes and rudimentary drumming. The brushed darker aluminum is too cool! Eight lugs aren't my first choice for tuning but this drum actually tightens up really high.

If you are looking for a crisp snare with a nice quick pop then this 5.5 x 14 snare will work for you. Great for any kind of music, I'd especially say for heavy rock, metal and punk or really any genre! Great snare for a great price.

    This snare is incredible!

This is probably the most versatile snare drum I've ever had the pleasure of using. I do a lot of studio sessions and so far this snare has been killing it. The aluminum shell gives off an amazing dry sound with just the slightest bit of resonance. Rock/Funk/RnB/Fusion, this snare can do it all. If you crank up the tuning, this snare is at it's zenith as far as sound goes; tune it down and the resonance is a bit more noticeable but, still a big presence on the kit. Overall I'd say everyone needs a snare like this one or similar; the possibilities are endless.

This snare is so versatile! Since it's made of aluminum it has a quicker and more precise attack which makes it great for anything from Jazz to Rock and back again. It's perfect for any gigging or studio drummer, and the price point is just right to make it affordable for ANY drummer. Great snare!

This snare brings a great dry and fat sound to the table. Once your stick lays down the first crack on this snare, the whole room will turn around. It's easy to tune and can be used in any music from classic rock to modern metal to gospel. Needless to say, Tama has impressed me yet again with an incredible snare drum that brings the fat tones everyone is looking for nowadays.

This drum is really fantastic! Its a budget friendly snare that produces a classic sound! The Dry Aluminum shell has a lot of attack and body, but very low sustain. The drums hold low, medium, and high tuning very well. This drum can also be used for a lot of different styles of music. The Tama SLP line doesn't disappoint. 10/10 Would Buy Again

I've been playing Tama drums for about 10 years now, And once again they haven't let me down. The SLP series are loaded with a variety of killer snares, and I tried out the Classic Dry just to change up my sound a bit. The snare has a nice crisp POP to it, without being overbearing. It replaced my all birch Silverstar snare, and really compliments the rest of the kit nicely. I paired it with some Puresound pro snares, and my Evans HD Dry head, and made it sing. The tension rods seemed so slip a little bit, but some thread sealant easily fixed that for me. Absolutely recommend for anyone looking to get a little extra crisp from their snare tone.

          Punchy, Clean and Dry

          By

          from Edison, NJ

          Staff Reviewer

If you are looking for a punchy, dry snare with some serious volume, this is the snare you need. The aluminum body feels extremely well made and is much lighter that one may expect. The tone on the snare is dry, clean and crisp without much sustain. The snare 'gets to the point' .
