Comments about Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze Medium Acoustic Guitar Strings (13-56):

Ok I got two sets of these medium gauge strings. I generally use Martin 92/8 phosphor bronze which are amazing strings, imo the best phosphor bronze because of the makeup. Back to these strings, I put one set on my Martin HD-28 (rosewood) and the other set on my Martin D-15 (mahogany) both excellent guitars. These strings do have a clearer less muffled sound than any string I have tried. Now I have other guitars comparable to those two, both woods and these strings are definitely clearer and a higher quality tone and steady ring to the note sustain. Very level compared to a circular sound which have volume up and downs. I do use medium gauge for the benefit of the volume and most of my guitars are built for/or set up for mediums. Ok this isn't a great loss of volume but the flip of the awesome tone is you lose a slight amount of volume which no one would ever notice but maybe you. Its not a lot of lost volume but maybe 8%. I haven't had them on long enough to comment on longevity life but they feel sturdy. I disagree with first reviewer who has the complex guitar, not sure what that meant, but these strings have the normal tension of standard medium gauge which is a great achievement of the maker considering its a different material. No adjustments are necessary, you will also find these strings very smooth, they don't scream and squeal when you slide your fingers down or up. All in all I consider these a premium grade string, and if they last will be worth the couple extra bucks.

      Awesome Strings

Comments about Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze Medium Acoustic Guitar Strings (13-56):

I put these on my Mahogany Taylor, and immediately noticed how much more chime, and clarity I got. Even just from playing simple chords. I play folk music, but also am really into percussive finger style playing (Andy Mckee turned me onto these). Really versatile great sounding strings for any style.

One caveat, if you expect these to sound warm and dull they aren't for you. If you want something thats vibrant and rings loudly these are for you.

Comments about Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze Medium Acoustic Guitar Strings (13-56):

Guy I study with got some of these as samples, and I tried them out. He was not blown away, but thought the strings would brighten up my myrtle-backed guitar that tends to be a bit warm.

I was traveling and spent a bunch of time playing guitars at a strange shop, so I bought a set there. I slapped them on and was immediately disappointed. The good ... the things offer very low tension. They bend and fret very easily.

Tone-wise, they come off very, very thin. There is some brightness to the attack, but then the tone kind of dissipates. I have a very robust, complex guitar, and with these strings, the guitar was robbed of all of that complexity. The low string tension may be a factor in the fact that these strings just do not seem to load the guitar as much as the D'Addarios or ClearTones I have been using. You just don't feel the guitar vibrate as much, and the sustain, volume and bloom are gone.

These may be good strings for an electric guitarist to put on an acoustic as they do not pull as hard as some other strings, but for me, they are a one-and-done. Took them off less than a week after installing them.
