An improved version of the world-renowned OCD Overdrive from Fulltone: OCD V2 Overdrive/Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal.Since its introduction, the Fulltone OCD Overdrive pedal has been one of the most widely popular overdrive pedals in the industry. For a little over a decade, Fulltone has made slight tweaks to the OCD, but none noteworthy enough to call the pedal out as a V2. For 2017, Fulltone has launched the OCD V2, which offers significant enhancements on one of the world’s favorite overdrive pedals.
As far as sound, the OCD V2 now boasts an output buffer, which keeps the OCD pedal from being influenced by the effects that come after it in the signal chain. The result is more consistent tone regardless of where this pedal sits in your signal chain and on the crowded pedalboards of today's modern guitarists. Sonically, it also allows for more sustain with regard to sound and overtones by reducing loading on the pedal’s hard-clipping stage.
It also now features a Class A configured discrete 2N5457 JFET input sections, increasing the input impedance from 330K to 1 mega ohms and enhancing dynamics. This allows for considerably improved interaction with both single-coil and humbucking pickups. So, no matter what guitar you’re using, you can be sure the OCD V2 will sound fantastic.
Under the hood, the OCD V2 now sports an internal switch that enables you to choose between Fulltone's exclusive Enhanced Bypass or true-bypass switching. The trademark Enhanced Bypass features ensures that even when the OCD is off, your entire rig will sound its absolute best. In either mode, there’s no popping sound.
Of course, since Fulltone added stages to the circuit, the sonic character of the OCD V2 has obviously changed with it—but for the better. While some people described the old model as "brash," "scooped-sounding," "bassy," "lacks sustain," and "too affected by other pedals," these descriptions no longer apply to the OCD V2.
Aesthetically, the OCD V2 showcases smaller "OCD" and "Fulltone" logos. Now, it also features Built in the USA beneath the Fulltone logo. The jack placement has also been updated for added convenience when integrating the OCD V2 onto your pedalboard.
