Comments about Ghs M3050 Precision Flatwound Stainless Steel Electric Bass 4 String:

I just got a P bass so I did some research on flatwounds. It came down to these, La Bella, D Darrio chromes, or Fenders. All are rated really well and from what I was able to tell the La Bellas sound best but have a ton of tension. I hEard stories of destroyed necks. Now it might not destroy a good neck but you'll have to adjust the truss rod more than you want.

Regarding the GHS flats, I saw them on forums and people loved them. They seem like the underdog, but the people that tried them co
Pared them to the others I mentioned and loved them

Now for me they sound and feel great: super thumpy, punchy and clear. The notes are really pronounced. Some people have issues with flats on a string through body, but so far they work great. By the way I had a luthier check out my bass and he commented how great the strings sounded and played. One note this pRticular guage is in extra long scale. You have to watch how you wind them.
