Comments about Alvarez Mpa66shb Masterworks A66 Series Parlor Acoustic Guitar:
I knew going into this that all Mahogany guitars can take a bit of time to get used to, they exhibit different tonal characteristics than a guitar with a spruce or cedar top. That being said, the price point for a full solid wood guitar was so low and the appearance so fetching that I decided to take a risk.
The guitar played well enough (I would have gotten an action job done if I had kept it) but it sounded like it was being played under a blanket. The sound wasn't just warm, it lacked clarity and sounded muffled.
The other complaint I have it the tuners on this guitar are garbage, absolute junk. I would have replaced them if I had kept it adding another $50 or so to the price.
What really sealed the deal though was the case is almost as big as a full sized dreadnaught case so I could not use it as a travel guitar like I originally intended. To add insult to injury, the Taylor GS Mini sounds better (even with laminate back and sides) and is smaller.
