My Ovation 1986 series uses nothing but 1717.

Comments about Ovation Adamas Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings (Assorted Gauges):

I have a 1986 collector series Ovation and I have used nothing but Adamas. My guitar stays in tune and rarely goes out of tune. I still use a tuner. I use the 1717 extra light guage. It's been hard to find them, but when I do I buy about 10 sets.

I've been using these strings for years and they are the best for country sound. Too bad they are discontinued by Adamas.

Acoustic guitar strings that play like electric

Comments about Ovation Adamas Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings (Assorted Gauges):

These stings feel as close to electric guitar strings as I've ever felt. Specificlly, they allow for more electric guitar style bending vs. feeling like your trying to bend an I-Beam. The only downside is the 3rd string used to not be a wound string like an electric guitar but now it's wound. Other than that, they're perfect for me. I also don't like other coated strings because they feel a little greasy as these have good finger resistance without being slippery.

      I've also tried D'Addario's (.011), Elixier's (.013), and DR's (.010)...

      FYI: Mine are the 1818E Light (.012 - .053).

Try just one set.....OH MY GOD

      By

Comments about Ovation Adamas Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings (Assorted Gauges):

DR Strings reek!!!! I just put a set on my acoustic and they sounded so bad I had to call a Guitar tech ...who said that "sitar" sound was a bad string. Promptly removed said DR Strings and replaced with a set of Kamen "Adamas" by ovation. (Cmdr. Adama,he he he) Anyways, buy a set of these strings...my Lord they make the guitar 10x better sounding!
