Description

This Exclusive Limited Edition S.L.P. G-Bubinga Snare is dynamic, articulate and suitable for virtually any style!

The 12-ply, 10mm 8”x14” Bubinga shell is punchy with a lot of body. The combination of 2.3mm flanged “Mighty Hoops” and 20 separate low-mass lugs allow the Bubinga shell to breathe so that it's tone is naturally resonant, not choked.  Exclusively at Sam Ash, you can find this drum in its gorgeous Charcoal Quilted Bubinga finish!

TAMA’s “Sound Lab Project” Snare Drums:
The snare drum is the cornerstone of your kit. Every drummer looks for the perfect snare. One that has just the right amount of resonance, something that cuts, something with a solid crack, sensitivity and rock solid stability. Many times drummers will spend an arm, leg, and first born child on a nice snare.  Now, thanks to the Tama S.L.P. line, you can get professional quality at a fraction of the price.

TAMA’s extensive research and development process led to a varied offering of S.L.P. shell materials, thickness (and number of plies of the wood shells) and the specific parts were experimented with to find each shell material’s full sonic potential.

The Sound Lab Project comprises three different maple shell snare drums and one of bubinga.  There are two steel shell snares, one of aluminum and one of brass.  Even though each one of these drums are uniquely individual, they all possess the same breath taking playability.

TAMA’s Sound Arc Hoop snare hoops:
The Sound Arc Hoop was specially developed for the Sound Lab Project (S.L.P.) snare drums. This inward curved 2.3mm steel hoop enhances the natural tone of the snare drum, and offers sensitivity, precise tuning, and control.

Comments about Tama S.L.P Limited Edition G-Bubinga 8X14" Snare Drum In Charcoal:

The Tama S.L.P. snare drum is an absolutely great piece of gear! As many others have mentioned, it has a great sound and really cuts through on heavier hits and rim shots. Bubinga is probably my favorite wood that is used for drums due to its good mix of low end and attack. Often times it can be tedious and difficult to get the sound you are looking for out of your snare drum, but the bubinga shell coupled with the Sound Arc Hoops on this snare make tuning a breeze. Aside from sound and playability, this drum just looks awesome! The charcoal finish coupled with the dark hardware give this drum an intense yet beautiful look, and I have yet to meet anyone that wasn't impressed by it.

The Tama S.L.P. LE G-Bubinga is a great snare for the price. Delivers a deep punch with its 8in deep shell and cuts through the mix really nicely. Great projection. Awesome utility snare for studio, great for metal and rock drummers. The tonal quality of the Bubinga is exceptional at a price point that most drummers can afford.

No matter the variation in heads placed upon it, the body of the snare gave a full punch that cut through any masking- the body gives resonance to even the most delicate and nuanced of playing.

Comments about Tama S.L.P Limited Edition G-Bubinga 8X14" Snare Drum In Charcoal:

This is one of those snares that as soon as you look at it, you check your bank account. The G-Bubinga is just one of many amazing models in Tama's SLP line. Starting with looks, the quilted finish is absolutely breathtaking and the added black nickel hardware almost seals the deal without even taking a moment to play it. As far as sound goes, I've played around with many different tuning configurations and I can't find one that doesn't work. Low tuning offers a good amount of low-end sound with plenty of punch behind it. Crank it up and oh my goodness, tons of response and an almost marching snare sound with the way it cracks. All in all, everyone should try this snare. You'll regret leaving any store without it.

Tama SLP Snares have done it again

Comments about Tama S.L.P Limited Edition G-Bubinga 8X14" Snare Drum In Charcoal:

Tama has earned a reputation for quality drums and hardware over the past few decades. They've really outdone themselves with a new, reasonably priced lineup of snares called the Sound Lab Project. As each snare drum in the series uses a unique shell and configuration of hardware to evoke a certain vibe, sound, and feel. A few years back Tama acquired a lot of Bubinga which is a very popular tonewood as well as just exotic wood in general as it can be very pretty. So what resulted is it's growing popularity in the drum world. Bubinga has a rich, powerful low end but still has a great punchy quality and articulate top end. Let's just say this 8x14" snare isn't for the faint of heart. It has a very powerful sound that can work great in different tunings. It's also a great looking drum. I'd say check out this one but really you should check out all of the Tama SLP snares as they cover such a broad range of textures and timbres.

Comments about Tama S.L.P Limited Edition G-Bubinga 8X14" Snare Drum In Charcoal:

I have wanted a bubing snare for years. I love how deep this is at 8". My go to snare is a Premere Hard Rock 9 which is 9 inches deep. This Tama gives me 1 more inch of clearance from my 24inch bass drum. It has a good deep tone that can be tuned up to an explosive pop. It has low end characteristics of wood with the sensitivity of a brass snare. It is almost hard to control how big this drum sounds. The stock G2 head is a decent starting point. I put a coated empower black dot and that brought out more punch. I am going to go with a remo power stroke 3 or and Evans Dry to cut some of the ring without muffling it. It is a super powerful drum. I absolutely love it and it is quickly taking a front seat to my other favorites.
