Comments about Squier Vintage Modified '70s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
I was looking for a MIM Fender Strat on the used market and my friend who works at a small music store told me to look at the Squier. I was against it 100%. I tried maybe 40 Fender MIM and Korean (Koa) used Strats. I wanted a rosewood neck and anything but a Squier. After getting frustrated and trying about 5 shops, I finally tried this one as he recommended - I was blown away! Was not what I was looking for but took less than a minute of playing to know it was the one and all along it was what I was looking for in terms of tone, feel, and playability. This guitar does not feel cheap, does not sound cheap, does not play cheap - it feels like a $700 Strat, I know, I have one. I play it to this day and have upgraded nothing. The bridge and trem probably need to be upgraded for really serious players (I am but this is not my main guitar), but is fine for probably 99% of most hobbyist or budget guitarists out there. Pulls of David Gilmore tones in spades with the right amp - a nice clean Fender or Vox would do, I prefer solid states for my clean amps and only play vintage Lab Series amps the the clean side of my rig and they sound amazing. I highly recoommend this guitar to anybody wanting a Strat but is on a budget. The Duncan pups rip on these things, no need to replace them at all!
