Description

With vintage guitars as popular as they’ve become, their cost has skyrocketed in recent years. Even relic’d new guitars are often outrageously over-priced. Now, Ibanez proudly offers Artcore Vintage—the alternative to pricey vintage instruments. The Artcore Vintage "aging" process applies to hardware and other appointments, as well as the body, giving each guitar a convincingly real, worn appearance.

The Top, Back and Sides of the ASV10A are crafted with the finest Flamed Maple which enables it to produce bright, pronounced tones while maintaining that tight low end. The 15 ¾'' semi-hollow body of the ASV10A is capable of producing rich and complex tones and allows each and every note to resonate beautifully. This semi-hollow guitar also houses a sustain block for increased sustain and eliminates any feedback that may occur when amplifying a semi-hollow/hollow instrument. The double cutaway design offers increased accessibility to the higher registers on the neck. The antiqued  finish on the ASV10A gives off that vintage vibe.

The Artstar ASV10A’s slim, set-in, 3 piece Mahogany/Maple neck features a bound Rosewood fingerboard topped with 22 medium frets which gives this guitar its outstanding playability and will provide you with the utmost comfort. The fingerboard also features Acrylic/Abalone block inlays which cater to the ASV10A's elegant appearance. To further accentuate its exquisite looks and overall performance, this guitar features chrome hardware including Ibanez tuning machines, a Quik Change III tailpiece, and an ART1 bridge that will help keep this guitar perfectly in tune.

The ASV10A boasts dual Ibanez Classic Elite pickups that offer rich, nuanced tone with fat low-end. Because these pickups are so incredibly versatile, they're capable of achieving excellent tones anywhere from clean, smooth jazz all the way to dirty, over-driven blues. Switch between the bridge and the neck or combine them with the on board toggle switch, then tailor your tone even further with each pickups designated tone and volume controls. Case not included.

I'm a bass player and wanted to start working on guitar and, as a leftie, had the issues of availability within the range of desired guitar and price point. This is my first semi-hollow and it came out of the box set up very well. No rough fret ends or uneven frets were to be had. I tested every fret and there are no issues from top to bottom. The action was set up very well also. I just had to tune it and re-acclimate myself with those tiny strings. The plastic nut isn't a game changer and most folks may want to switch it out. I may at some point but not today. The pups sound pretty good to my ear. Granted, I'm playing thru a Gallien-Krueger Backline 210 Combo since I don't have a guitar amp, but it still sounds very nice and the switchable overdrive still makes a great noise. Maybe someday, if properly motivated, I will switch them out for something else. The tuners are the last thing that may need attention. Again, they seem ok to me as a beginner/returning to guitar customer, but I could see wanting to switch them out for some 19-1 locking tuners one day. The neck has a nice feel as its slightly chunkier, but not exactly as thick a full U. It just feels good and doesn't have such a thin profile that it feels like it may snap if you move up to 11's. The artificial relic-ing of the guitar may seem cheesy to some but I think it looks great. The worn look of the hardware is visually appealing to me and not as obnoxious as having a guitar that looks to have been belt sander beaten and then covered with 10 layers of clear. Its a subtle look on the Vintage and it doesn't grab your attention as easily. Personally, I think its a very attractive guitar that doesn't call unnecessary attention to itself. Overall, I feel its a good guitar and value. Lefties should consider the Artcore line for sure. I bought it, sight unseen, after watching videos and reading up on it for roughly 3 months. I'll update this later if any of my present opinions should change.
