Fender once again has combined tradition with updated design to create a powerful new addition to the family. The Classic Player Jazzmaster Special Electric Guitar retains its legendary offset waist and contoured body design that was far ahead of its time in 1958; while simultaneously moving into the future with some simplified changes to the original specs. Maintaining tradition, the Jazzmaster Classic Player body is carved from alder, the most widely used tonewood by Fender. Updated electronics feature a pair of Fender Special Design Hot Jazzmaster Single-Coil pickups. These updated pickups deliver a powerful punch comparable to the classic P-90, and are extremely versatile for whatever style of music you are playing. A vintage-tint maple neck sports a slightly flatter 9.5” radius rosewood fingerboard, with 21 medium jumbo frets to promote easier string bending.

The updated hardware on the Classic Player Jazzmaster includes an Adjusto-Matic bridge which will increase sustain and stabilize tuning. The strings will sit more firmly in the saddles; enabling you to play more aggressively. The classic Jazzmaster Tremolo has been moved closer to the bridge to increase break angle and sustain. The screw-in tremolo arm increases stablilty and pitch-altering range to further expand your lead playing. These player-approved mods give the Classic Player Jazzmaster a hot-rodded feel right out of the box. A deluxe gig bag is included.

  • Neck pocket optimized for better neck pitch
  • 9.5”-radius rosewood fingerboard with 21 medium jumbo frets
  • Dual special design “hot” single-coil Jazzmaster pickups

Great guitar for a bargain price

I really can't complain about the Jazzmaster at all. It is a nice throw back (with some improvements) to a Fender classic. I bought this guitar about half a year ago and it is my go-to guitar. This review is mostly for people who have never experienced a Fender offset style guitar. The guitar is very form fitting and in my opinion, very comfortable both neck and body by being offset style. Potential negative ,though not always, is the back of the neck is glossy which may get a little hard to use when it hasn't been cleaned. But its not a deal breaker. The tuning machines are "vintage" too, so if you're not schooled up on how to string up vintage pegs- it may be a learning curve. The guitar also is very versatile sounding. You can make it have a lot of different tones due to the settings. From the thin, 60s beach tones, to the round"ish" fender SRV sounds, or to the more meaty, dark bridge pickup. Also, with a different circuit switch on top, you can switch to a even more mellowish, jazzy/bluesy sound quick and easily ( sometimes accidentally if you really jamming). I love the wide range of the jazzmaster's sound. The tremolo system is great too. My guitar never goes out of tune (even if I dive it) and the new bridge (tune-o-matic style), makes the bridge very easy to use. However, the downside of the jazzmaster and maybe all styles like it-- the buzz or airy jingle from the tremolo system. The strings in the small space between the bridge and the tremolo system often ring out or has a different sound than what you will be used to. It is more noticeable when you have distortion on (at least for me). It drives some people crazy and you can get a damper for the buzzing, but I think if you are going to do that then you are probably buying the wrong guitar to begin with. I really do not mind it, it is just the nature of the beast so to say and not really a downside to me. I have learned to appreciate it and make it work for my style, kind of like the twangyness of a telecaster or the tones of a strat. You make it your sound. You will hear the difference at first, but it will grow on you like it did me. Sorry for the book I have just written, but it's truly a solid guitar. Give it a try and you wont regret it.
