    Zildjian Cymbals

Avedis Zildjian is the oldest family-owned company in the United States and one of the oldest companies in the world. The company was started in 1618, when Avedis Zildjian began making cymbals for Sultan Osman II of the Ottoman Empire. In 1928, one year before the Great Depression, Zildjian moved to Quincy, Massachusetts, where it became the first company to manufacture cymbals for use in drum sets.

    Zildjian 14th Generation

Today the Zildjian Company is run by the 14th generation of the Zildjian family, Cragie and Debbie Zildjian, giving it the added distinction of being one of the most important women owned and run businesses in the music industry. The Zildjian sisters grew up with the secrets of the Zildjian alloy that made Zildjian cymbals the choice of so many legendary drummers. They have been responsible for many of the greatest innovations in cymbal manufacturing, sound, and composition.

Browse our huge selection of Zildjian Cymbals to find exactly the sound you need. From the ZBT line, which offers complete cymbal packs for your drum set, to the rich sound of Zildjian ZHT cymbals, to the bright sweet sound of the A and A Custom Zildjians and the dark traditional Turkish sound of the K Constantinople Zildjians. Check out our selection of Zildjian specialty cymbals, exotic China cymmbals, and our classic band and orchestra cymbals.

    Zildjian Gen 16

Among Zildjian's latest cymbal innovations are the Zildjian Gen 16 acoustic-electric cymbals that sound and respond the same as traditional cymbals, but play at less than a quarter of the volume. These are perfect for use with both acoustic and electronic drum sets.

    Zildjian Cymbals

The Avedis Zildjian Company is the world’s largest cymbal maker and the oldest family business in America. Each cymbal has been crafted by fifteen generations of Zildjian artisans since 1623.  Its origins begin with Avedis Zildjian I, an Armenian alchemist in Constantinople, who while attempting to create gold by combining base metals, discovered an alloy of copper, tin, and traces of silver with unique sound qualities. In 1618, Avedis used his secret alloy to create cymbals of spectacular clarity and power. As Avedis reputation grew, the Sultan gave him the name "Zildjian" in Armenian, a word meaning "son of cymbal maker." In 1929, Avedis Zildjian III moved the company and its secret formula from Turkey to the USA where he invented the modern cymbal business by working side by side with the legends of popular music.  From Classical to Big Band to Jazz to Rock n’ Roll, the Zildjian family has always understood the evolving needs of drummers from all genres and has created one the greatest legacies in all of music.  Today, each cast cymbal is crafted using the same secret Zildjian alloy formulated over 390 years ago. Using processes refined over centuries as well as modern cymbal making techniques, Zildjian develops classic and modern cymbal lines that are played by the greatest drummers in the world. Zildjian continues to define the cymbal category through its dedication to helping drummers find their own, unique sound and by delivering the most diverse and highest quality range of cymbals, drumsticks and accessories.
