One thing I use this for is setting a drum rhythm and playing keyboard or bass along with it. The patterns that can be programmed are much more fun to jam with than just a regular drum machine. I also use it a lot for writing/recording music. The sounds can all be customized and automated to achieve the sound of many drum machines linked together. The sound is crystal clear, too, and good enough to be used in any recording situation.
