This is the first mandolin I've owned and attempted to play so I have nothing to compare it to. That being said it is crafted well. It holds tune well (after strings are broken in). The intonation seems good by ear. As sound goes, I have nothing to compare it to but it seems be good for an entry level The Loar. I'm sure if you spend more money you'll get a better sound, but this one isn't bad. I think it would have trouble being heard over other acoustic instruments but that can be remedied with a mic and amp. Overall I feel like this is a good starter mandolin and I am not disappointed in my purchase.
