    Guitar Amplifiers

Guitar amplifiers are the foundation on which great tone is built. Even the most seasoned guitarists will spend years chasing their dream tone, and it almost always comes down to the amp. With technology constantly changing, you have more amplification options than ever before. From professional tube amplifiers to more modern solid-state amps and everything in between, you can find a great amplifier regardless of your age or experience level. One of the first decisions you need to make is the configuration of your amplification set up. If you want to recreate the iconic Stacks that defined the golden age of Rock n Roll, choose from our extensive collection of Guitar Speaker Cabinets and combine your favorites with a Guitar Amp Head. You can also go with our most popular solution, a Guitar Combo Amplifier which provides an amplifier and a speaker in a single box.

If you’re just getting started, consider getting a small, portable combo amplifier. These are perfect for practice, and their low wattage won't bother the neighbors. Some of these feature built-in guitar effects, so you can experiment with different sounds.

Solid-state amplifiers are a great option if you’re just getting started or plan to take on a heavy touring schedule with lots of traveling. Because they use solid-state electronics instead of vacuum tubes, solid-state amplifiers require less maintenance, are lightweight, and offer consistent tone. Hybrid amplifiers combine a solid-state power section with preamp tubes, offering the benefits of a solid-state amplifier with the warmth of a tube amplifier.

Tube driven amplifiers produce big, warm tones that will cut through a mix like nothing else. Though solid-state and modeling amplifier technology has come a long way, and can get you very close to the tones you know and love, nothing beats plugging into a tube amp, cranking it up, and rocking out. Ranging from 1 watt to over 100 watts, there are tube amps for every occasion.

Modeling amplifiers have recently become very popular amongst amateur and professional musicians. These are digital based amplifiers that are compact and provide incredible flexibility. With a modeling amplifier, you have one amp that can take on the tone and characteristics of various amps, making them convenient for travel.

At the opposite end of the spectrum we have acoustic guitar amplifiers. Ideal for solo performers and street musicians, acoustic guitar amps have become more multifaceted and offer up a lot of useful features. Some offer built-in effects such as reverb, chorus and delay. Most will act as a portable PA system, allowing a microphone to be plugged in via an XLR or 1/4" cable.

Looking for the amp of your dreams? Sam Ash can help! We carry brands such as Marshall, Orange, Vox, Fender, Blackstar, and many more. Not sure which brand to go with? Give our experts a call at 800-472-6274, or chat with them online, and they can work with you and point you in the right direction.
