A set for a budgeted drummer, with impeccable taste.

By

from Cleveland, OH

Japanese based company Tama, has always had the goal of making a both affordable and quality product for their loyal customers and fan base. The Imperialstar (named after its early ancestor, the "Imperial Star") embodies that goal to the fullest extent. Made from classic poplar, and showcasing many features of even the highest quality Tama kits, the Imperialstar is a staple amongst mid-range beginner/intermediate player kits. trusted by even the pros, the kit offers a smooth even tone, with slightly accentuated low-end warmth. For the drummer that has no idea what style embodies his own personality, this kit can accomplish the sounds of anything from jazz, to rock/metal and gospel. This kit is the perfect "all-arounder". From the rigor of tour, to the precision of the studio, id trust this kit to take you anywhere you need to go.

If you are looking for a kit with a package deal( that includes everything, cymbals, hardware, seat) look no further! This kit has the best features for the price. It comes with medium weight Tama Hardware, and a Iron Cobra 200 bass pedal. This new finish by Tama is sharp looking as well. Another thing different about this kit that you wont usually see on package deal kits, is black nickel hardware. That is features usually on higher end kits. This kit is a great practice kit, and would be fine for gigging. If you are looking for your 1st kit, this is the one! If you are needing an extra kit for practice with everything, this is also a great deal! This is a product review by Rocky at Sam Ash Music Store #57-Indianapolis, IN

Great bang for the buck for beginners or seasoned players

    By

For a long time it's been a challenge for beginners and seasoned players to get an affordable practice set. Tama has answered your prayers with the Imperialstar lineup. They start out with a Poplar shell which has been a popular drum tonewood for decades it's warm and punchy. Many inexpensive drums simply cut corners anywhere they can but tama has included precision cut bearing edges (to make tuning/seating heads a breeze), glued the wraps to the shells (no bubbles, buzzing, or warping like on kits where the wrap is applied at certain contact points), used smaller lugs for better shell resonance, accu-tune hoops for the kick so that it's lightweight easier to tune and more stable than metal hoops, etc. Unlike a lot of low end kits Tama has given you great quality hardware (the lugs, hoops, tension rods etc on the drums themselves are all excellent quality), but the stands are based on the popular roadpro line and the kick pedal is an iron cobra 200 pedal (a fantastic pedal at any pricepoint). Many low end kits simply aren't built for the long haul, these are. For the cymbals (another corner cut for many companies low end offerings) Tama has partnered with Meinl and provided the HCS brass cymbal pack to give you good tone on a budget. All in all you get great sounding, great looking drums that are built to last. For a beginner or seasoned player this can be a practice kit you play for many years by simply upgrading the heads, cymbals, and maybe getting a snare better suited to your style and taste as you progress. If you need a great practice kit that doesn't break the bank check out the Tama Imperialstars today!

Best Imperialstar For Your Buck !

    By

    from Edison, NJ

Tama has now made its great Imperialstar into a way more affordable model that doesn't skimp on the premium material and craftsmanship usually reserved for their higher range of product. This drum set looks marvelous in either color, but the black looks amazing. The hardware packaged keeps all your components nice and tight with little room for compromise.

    Great First Kit

    By

    from Canoga Park, CA

Getting a first drum kit can be tricky. There are a lot of sets under a grand that are complete garbage, catering people who are looking for the cheapest thing they can get, and don't know enough to know how bad they are. Typically, if it comes with cymbals and hardware, it should be avoided. That said, this is the exception. Not only is the kit great sounding, but the cymbals and hardware are also decent. A beginner could pick up this setup, and be comfortable playing it for years. Even when he becomes a pro and is ready to upgrade, this kit would still make a great rehearsal or beater kit, since it's really well put together.

A 6 piece kit with cymbals and hardware for under $900? Unbelievable! This fantastic drum kit is being offered in a few finishes and they all look great. The tone is great for the price, very full and resonant. I would recommend any of the drummers I know to checkout one of these kits.

For anyone looking to get a great kit with cymbals and hardware under a thousand bucks that is not a piece of junk! Tama upgraded their hardware recently and everything feels smooth. Comes with Meinl cymbals which is another bonus. Its a great starter kit that someone will want to stick with for a while.
