Can't go wrong with this one.

Have owned & played this guitar at home and on many gigs (as a back up & main guitar) since 2010 and love it. Can't go wrong buying this one. The sound and playability is great acoustically and thru an amp, Don't be turned off by the HPL back & sides or Made in Mexico. It's Martin quality all the way (and hope it stays that way in the future) . The stratabond neck is very strong and nice to play. So the constuction of this guitar makes it an excellent travel guitar also. While it can't compare to the sound, feel , and playability of higher end Martins , it's the best sounding, playing guitar I've played in this price range. Highly recommend for someone's first guitar , or pro who needs a back up guitar to take on gigs .

Great for Travel

I purchased this to give me a decent guitar that I would not cry if it got destroyed, for travel and outdoor play. Rather than purchasing a 'cheap' steel string, I decided to splurge a bit and get something that I was more inclined to play and that might be useful for recording and performance as a secondary guitar. Since I have a D35, a dreadnaught was redundant. The OOO has always intrigued me, so I took a chance and I am very happy with the result. The setup was perfect upon arrival, the guitar is flawless, exactly as expected. There is a sort of growlyiness to the low end when you strum hard which is pleasing. It got compliments for sound quality overall at recent jam. Also everyone wanted to play it, and finger pickers were very pleased. I had a number of people ask about model and price. The guitar is also surprisingly pretty. The spruce top looks great and the lack of binding actually drew compliments as a nice aesthetic touch. I have seen discussions on not having fretboard markers on the fretboard (they are on the side) but that fits the simplified design. The guitar feels very sturdy (even a bit heavier than expected as was commented on a few times) and really no sense of give or flex to it. The OOO size isn't THAT much smaller than the D's but still is noticible, and the sound definitely is distinct, with a sort of crispness during finger picking and high fretboard work. I have not yet tried the electronics, but otherwise this guitar is exactly what I wanted at a price that was very reasonable given my experience with guitars more and less expensive. It won't ever replace my D35, but I have been playing it a lot at home and was proud to show it off to friends.

Great 000 Guitar

I was a bit apprehensive dealing with the HPL sides and stratbond neck. After owning it, I don't even think about that. I love the Martin Sound. The Cleartone Martin strings compliment this guitar well. I only wish finding a case wasn't so difficult. The price makes this guitar a bargain. I would by this Guitar again.

Good guitar-decent price

Bought this guitar as I was killing time at a music store. Never intended to buy anything . I have several acoustics and was just playing all the different models. I picked it up and really liked the tone and ease of play. I put it on a stand at the house and play it more regularly than my other high end acoustics. I have used it on stage for a few numbers and it is not quite as good as my other acoustics, but this guitar is perfect for a quick grab and picking session. If you are considering a new guitar for a youngster, this would be a good choice instead of a high end D45 for someone just starting out.Save some cash in those early years and let them grow into the prestige of a D45 as they get older......
