I actually purchased the D'angelico EXL-1 which is about the same as the EXL- Premier, but with a lot more "Bling". The Premier plays just as well as the EXL-1, but omits the seven layer binding and gold hardware. I played both models and they both are superb instruments with impeccable fit and finish. The workmanship rivals any of my much more expensive guitars. The single floating pickup is warm and has great tone. This is a wonderful guitar for jazz, blues, swing, country and reggae music. It would not be a good guitar for loud music because you would get feedback from the hollow body - something all hollow body guitars experience. The feedback is no bettor nor worse in this D'angelico than in any other brand. They all will feed back at high volume settings. The frets are done extremely well and the ends are beautifully finished, with no rough or sharp edges. The workmanship on this guitar is excellent. The tuners are smooth and accurate. This is a beautiful guitar that feels and plays great. It is beautiful to look at and almost worth the money to have it just to hang on the wall and admire, but it is a lot more fun to play. An Excellent guitar. As usual, Sam Ash was great to deal with and offered a great price.
