It's a learning experience but I've been able to export MIDI recording to the SD disk and move them to my laptop for further work. Access to the Axial sound libraries is an unexpected benefit and I've already downloaded some.

The Roland FA-08 is one of my favorite new workstations from Roland. It has a huge library of sounds that you can pull from which is great. I've used this multiple times in the studio and a few times live and I can say that it really can do any job you want it to and then some. The big brother to the 61 key FA 06. Roland was aiming at performance and in this model did that very well. All the knobs and pads feel very solid and made of high quality. At the price point of this workstation, it is almost worth the purchase just because. You can never have enough gear right? Besides, Roland has set the standard for electronic sounds that many other companies have tried to copy, so you know Roland is never a bad idea. The screen and menu layout I think is Roland's best to date. It is very simple and easy to navigate, yet you still have a universe of sounds and options at your disposal. So if you're a hardcore programmer, not to worry. I really like that the FA model utilizes a SD card for sound storage and a 4GB card is included. (You will never run out of storage space) Also included is access to Roland's Axiel sound library where you can upload free sounds giving you a world of creative options that are limitless. The Roland FA-08 Music Workstation is a workstation that doesn't take an engineering degree to use. The sounds are top notch and the Ivory G keys are very useable. The ability to download sounds from the Axial site is a big plus! I'm really liking the sampler pads especially the sample triggering. For me the thing that really shines is the user interface, I can create user sets very easily and record while the inspiration is still there. Come down and check it out. This is my favorite product from Roland this year. It's overall functionality is incredible. Three keyboards in one. A DAW control, a keyboard and a sequencer. The sequencer is so easy to use, you don't have to be a season vet to figure it out. Layering and splitting the keyboard into four different zones let you program your favorite sounds for cover tunes or the magic you create in the studio. The EQ, Comp, and variety of FX you can lay over the sequenced tracks is amazing as well. If you need a keyboard for the stage and the studio the FA-08 is the keyboard for you.
