The Squier Standard Stratocaster is a great playing guitar with a traditional vibe, slick style and modern feel.

Player-friendly features like a 22-fret fingerboard and a slimmer neck make for smoother playing and choke-free bends. This Stratocaster model has an extended fingerboard with 22 frets instead of the standard 21 frets. The comfortable "C"-shaped neck profile of this instrument (the shape of the neck in cross section) is sculpted to impart a vintage-style playing feel. The most prevalent neck profile shape, it’s remarkably comfortable and is ideal for all playing styles.
Alnico single-coil pickups provide plenty of punchy, rocking power. An iron alloy, alnico magnets contribute to warm, balanced vintage-style tone.

  • Maple neck with "C"-shaped profile and "large" headstock
  • 22-fret maple or rosewood fingerboard
  • Three single-coil Stratocaster pickups with five-way switching
  • Two-point synchronized tremolo with block saddles
  • Case not included

A great Strat!

These are great guitars, if modded properly, can rival a much more expensive Strat! I put in a 0.1uf metalized capacitor, and that toned down the inherit treble sound of the pickups, I would put it up against any more expensive Squiers and even the mexican made Strats! An unbelievable value for the money. The AlNico pickups are vastly better than a ceramic pickup Squier! They really don't need any more modification than a different capacitor, a lot of Squier buyers will mod thier Squiers sooner or later, but you can get yourself a great sounding Strat for little spent!

Great guitar

I bought this guitar a few months ago (from Sam Ash) [...] I unpacked it and right out of the box it played good. I started taking lessons with it and after about my fifth lesson my teacher recommended I have the guitar set up by a local expert. I took it over to him (his name is Pat from Mansfield, Ohio) and he did the works for a professional set up, when he was all said and done he said it played better than some of the $2000 guitars that he has set up. Now I know this isn't a super nice American Fender Strat but for a beginner I really like it, and I plan on keeping and playing it for many years to come (then I will move up to an American Fender - and have it professionally set up.)Overall I recommend this guitar for anyone from no experience to intermediate. I DO suggest that you take it and have it set up professionally - it was well worth the $50 it cost me.Oh one more note: I do get a Little bit of fret buzz but I have isolated the problem as being associated with the fluorescent lights in the room where I play. Its not bad but you can hear it - a friend of mine has an American Strat and it does the exact same thing (maybe even a little worse) in my specific room.

Excellent Guitar For [$]

I have to say this has been an excellent guitar for me. Mine is four years old and is in the cherry sunburst with a mint green pick guard. I wish the neck was thicker, but that's not a big deal. I have a XT65 crate amp that has 3 channels clean, vintage, and overdrive This guitar sounds excellent though the clean channel. Not so good through the overdrive, but you can make some adjustments and get a decent sound. I love the vintage, this guitar will scream. It stays in tune, the action is as good as american made strats, the hardware is good, the frets are finished off well with no sharp edges. I am going to change the pickups to Tex-Mex because it's an inexpensive way to up grade this guitar, that's what so good about this guitar. This is a [$] guitar so it has it's limits. It was not made for heavy metal, grudge rock, or any heavy distortion because of the single coil pickups. It was built for rock, blues, jazz, and country music. So if you are looking for a very inexpensive strat then I recommend this guitar. And you can upgrade it later for just a little money.

Love them Strats

This guitar is as good as the '57 I restored in '75. I also owned a '65 sunburst strat, and was owner of KOCH MUSIC in Cocoa- Cape Kennedy area. '70 to'75. I kept up to 15 strats in stock ,both and maple & rosewood neck configurations. This ax is the real deal!! I played 5&6 nights/week for years and I could gig with this guitar. Sturdy enough for Bar-Wars!!!
